This is Max, he is looking for a patient and loving forever home. He was found alone in the Harlandale Clinic parking lot, frightened and unsure of people. It took an entire day of gentle coaxing before he trusted me enough to come along, but once he did, his sweet personality began to shine.

He weighs about 18 pounds and is about 1 year old, eats well, and absolutely loves having a soft bed to curl up in. Stuffed toys are one of his favorite things, and he enjoys carrying them around and snuggling with them. While he is still timid in new situations, he clearly wants affection and enjoys being loved on. He has never shown any aggression.

He gets along well with other dogs and especially loves our pit bull, often seeking comfort and companionship from her. At first he barked at and chased our cats, but when corrected with a firm “no,” he immediately backed off, As time has gone on and he has been around our entire pack of animals, he has learned to fit in and is pretty calm around them all now.

He is still learning house manners. He has done some marking and had a few potty accidents indoors, but we are working on frequent trips outside and he is making progress. He does have an issue with crossing the threshold to go outdoors and indoors, and we were frequently having to pick him up to take him in and out, but that is also getting better over time.

He does not yet know how to walk on a leash and will need a patient adopter willing to help him build confidence and learn basic skills. A secure fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus for him.

This sweet boy has already come a long way from the scared dog we found in that parking lot. He is looking for someone who will give him the time, patience, and love he needs to fully blossom. In return, you’ll gain a loyal little companion with a gentle heart and so much love to give.

Max had been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is heartworm negative and wormed. If you can’t wait to meet this precious boy, please fill out an application. Adoption fee $300.
